Does a missing KERN ID mean no entity found?

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Short answer

No. A missing KERN ID does not always mean no entity was found. It can mean the record has not been processed, the result has not been written back, the Account is not linked to a Kernel Account record, or Kernel could not resolve the entity from the available evidence.

Treat missing KERN ID as a workflow and resolution-state question, not as a final answer by itself.

What to check

  • Has the record been submitted to the right enrichment or inbound workflow?
  • Did the workflow complete, fail, or remain in progress?
  • Is the KERN ID missing everywhere or only missing from Account?
  • Does the Kernel object contain a result that was not copied onto Account?
  • Does the API or workflow return a clear completed, error, or unresolved status?
  • Does the record have enough evidence to resolve: company name, website, country, legal name, or LinkedIn URL?

Common causes

  • The record has not been processed yet.
  • The result exists in Kernel but was not written to the expected CRM field.
  • The record lacks enough identity evidence.
  • The workflow failed or timed out.
  • The customer is looking at Account while the value exists on the Kernel object.
  • The API or workflow returned an unresolved or error state, which should be interpreted in the context of the endpoint and workflow.

What to send support

  • Salesforce Account ID or inbound execution ID.
  • Any API status or message returned.
  • Whether the KERN ID is missing from Account, Kernel Account, API response, or all surfaces.
  • Input values sent to Kernel.
  • Approximate request or sync time.
  • Whether this is one record or a recurring pattern.
