Why is there a parent value but no association action?

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Short answer

A parent value can exist as hierarchy data without an actionable Salesforce recommendation. Kernel may know the relationship but still not recommend creating, linking, or reparenting an Account.

It should not matter if the parent data is visible on Kernel Account only. Association actions depend on whether there is an eligible CRM action, not where the hierarchy field is displayed.

Check this first

  • Does the parent already exist in Salesforce?
  • Is there an Associate action in the app?
  • Is the child protected by safeguards or exclusions?
  • Is the parent allowed by the customer's hierarchy policy?
  • Is the expected parent eligible for the customer's CRM hierarchy rules?

What to send support

  • Child Account ID.
  • Current CRM parent.
  • Kernel parent and ultimate parent values.
  • Whether an Associate action exists.
